Going on two

Before I knew it you were two.

Just the day before, crawling on the floor.

Helping you draw with sidewalk chalk.

Now I’m hearing you talk.

Now you are going on ten.

Can I still be your friend.

I’ll never say can you remember when.

Just for you, well and your brother too.

We surrounded this tree, for you and he.

Climbing together, or the queen on her own.

Just the other day, you were going on two.

Your little legs churning to run,

caught every rock but one.

The trail broke our fall,

As you watched to see if we’d call.

Before the tears replaced your smile,

You knew we would all the while.

Casting stones in the pond,

Listing to preachers drone on.

Just the other day you were going on two.

Not from my blood,

But for you I would bleed.

Smile with Teedas jokes,

Run from Addie’s monster pokes.

Precious are you,

We’d do a thing you choose.

Spoiled but still loved,

You are gods gift from above.

These words, Sadie at for you,

We’ve of Kailer also written a few.

Just the other day you were going on two.
