There where once two slumbered you remain.Up around your face the blankets keeping the morning chill away.
Sweetly your breath rises and falls with dreams that on you mind still call.
Here where once I held you through the night I watch with musical delight.
Climbing into clothes of labor struggling agains awakening noises.
Stirring, a cough, cringing as slumber slips from your heart.
Good is the morning in early light when your first words are, how was your night.
Grumbling your warmer has left the evenings bed, for another days bread.
Love calls me to your side, our affections we never hide.
A kiss upon freshly awakened lips, received, returned with words of love unearned.
Thankful this heart that under Jesus love we got our start.
In his hands we remain, you here resting, me rushing into the days rain.
There where once two slumbered you remain.
