Hello, standing in a self made desert

Standing in a self made desert I return
Parched lips whispering
What should come as a shout
Life’s cloaks snagged
On nettles and cactus
Scratched and bleeding
I thank you
For your blood
For her love
For our love
Doubt warring on faith
Fearing ambushes hope
Anger rewards misdirection
Yet still
You are here
Her strength
I thank you
Pains gnawing at her
Slowing her thoughts
As her body
Frustration builds
Prayers fill her heart
Giving us a place to start.
In strange beautiful lands
Finding new friends
Sharing faith
I thank you for this
This challenge
The more it’s said
The more I understand
I thank you
Oh, and amen
