50 minutes

As the minutes in an hour so pass the years of a life…
Nearing fifty, closing on the first hour I strive…
Seeing each passing year in the memories eyes…
Weighing the good with the bad, grows a sigh…
Trembling rewards spent on fruitless pieces of pie…
Could we each then see, the hopes that will be…
Out pacing the pains that bring us to our knees…
Would we better welcome their passing as seconds to a minute…
Greeting milestones, accepting ages changing finish…
Welcoming joints popping, nashing on this journey’s way…
Cursing not loss but seeking peace in each passing day…
Readied by holy words inevitable end we soon gain…
Trials and earthly taunts upon our hearts falling like rain…
In this mortal grasp, well past births first second can we now see…
This persons first failures growing into victories for me…
Rugged formed a heart often broken on barren soil….
Still toward a goal well past a soul searching fifty I’ll toil….
For fifty minutes is not quite an hour….
And this lives continued well on Gods power…
Onward I’ll step into minutes unguessed…
Welcoming change, sharing a heart with a well won soul to the finish I’ll press…
Ten minutes left in this hour, an hour that begins a new day…
